Maintenance Operator I 

 South Ogden City is seeking a skilled professional for the position of Maintenance Operator I.  This position Operates specialized heavy equipment such as single & tandem axle dump trucks, road graders, cats/bulldozers, front-end loaders, backhoe, bucket trucks, snow plow and other similar equipment in the construction, maintenance and repair of various Street, Water  or Sewer department projects and sites.  This position may work in the Water, Sewer or Street department as needed

 This position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and at least six (6) months of general work experience in a field related to the duties listed above.  The incumbent must be able to work “on-Call” and be able to respond to City calls within 30 minutes of the call.  Incumbents must also be able to lift 50-75 pounds on a continual basis and obtain a commercial class “B” driver’s license within 6 months from the date of hire.

 The starting hourly wage for this position is $16.47 per hour plus an excellent benefits package.

Police Officer I-III

South Ogden City is accepting applications for a full time Police Officer. Applicants must be a US Citizen, and have a High School diploma or equivalent, a valid driver's license, and current Utah POST Certification. Candidates must pass a stringent background check, drug screen, and a psychological evaluation. A college degree and prior law enforcement are preferred but not required.

Candidate must possess ability to prepare clear and concise written reports, communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, analyze dangerous situations rapidly and accurately before taking safe effective action, enforce federal, state and municipal laws and work with the public in a courteous respectful manner.

Work conditions may present high stress and threat to personal safety during periods of search and seizure and arrest. Incumbents may be exposed to toxic materials, have to deal with unruly or dangerous individuals, unsafe building sites and may have to use deadly force. Incumbents may also be required to extend work schedule during emergency situations.

Crossing Guard

This part time position observes road traffic to determine best timing for road crossings; admits children and pedestrians into designated crossing locations; escorts children and pedestrians as needed to assure safe crossings; acts defensively when anticipating on-coming vehicles. Reports to assigned location at pre-determined times; turns pedestrian traffic lights on and off; sets out safety cones; wears and uses required safety apparel and equipment; reports faulty and/or malfunctioning lights, apparel and equipment to supervisor; clears snow or debris from walkways to ensure safe, unobstructed passage.  Starting pay is $10.00 - $11.00 per hour based on qualifications and experience.
