Full-Time Firefighter/EMT II or III

South Ogden City is accepting applications for full-time Firefighter/EMT II or III.   Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, have a High School Diploma or equivalent, have at least an EMT-B, Hazmat Awareness and Operations, Firefighter I and II Cert, and a valid driver’s license.   

Firefighters provide a variety of entry-level firefighting duties related to protection of life and property by performing firefighting, emergency medical aid, and fire prevention/education duties. This position also performs minor maintenance efforts with firefighting and medical equipment, apparatus, and facilities.    

 The starting annual salary is $38,105- $64,363 depending on experience and qualifications plus a generous benefit package, which includes a 100% employer paid health insurance plan for employees and dependents.

Part-Time Recreation Coordinator

South Ogden City is currently seeking a part-time recreation coordinator.  Under general direction of the Recreation Supervisor, this position assists in and performs planning, coordination, and supervision the City Recreation program(s), and provides technical staff assistance in the field of recreation programming. This position requires working varied hours, including early mornings, nights, and weekends. 

The ideal candidate will work well under pressure, meet multiple and sometimes competing deadlines.  The incumbent shall at all times demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors. The incumbent is expected to exercise judgment and initiative in the course of these duties.

This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, one year of recreation experience, possession of or ability to obtain a valid CPR certificate and a valid driver's license.  The successful candidate must pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening.

The starting hourly wage will be between $14.00 and $14.50.

Police Officer I-III

South Ogden City is accepting applications for a full time Police Officer. Applicants must be a US Citizen, and have a High School diploma or equivalent, a valid driver's license, and current Utah POST Certification. Candidates must pass a stringent background check, drug screen, and a psychological evaluation. A college degree and prior law enforcement are preferred but not required.

Candidate must possess ability to prepare clear and concise written reports, communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, analyze dangerous situations rapidly and accurately before taking safe effective action, enforce federal, state and municipal laws and work with the public in a courteous respectful manner.

Work conditions may present high stress and threat to personal safety during periods of search and seizure and arrest. Incumbents may be exposed to toxic materials, have to deal with unruly or dangerous individuals, unsafe building sites and may have to use deadly force. Incumbents may also be required to extend work schedule during emergency situations.

Crossing Guard

This part time position observes road traffic to determine best timing for road crossings; admits children and pedestrians into designated crossing locations; escorts children and pedestrians as needed to assure safe crossings; acts defensively when anticipating on-coming vehicles. Reports to assigned location at pre-determined times; turns pedestrian traffic lights on and off; sets out safety cones; wears and uses required safety apparel and equipment; reports faulty and/or malfunctioning lights, apparel and equipment to supervisor; clears snow or debris from walkways to ensure safe, unobstructed passage.  Starting pay is $10.00 - $11.00 per hour based on qualifications and experience.
