40th Street Construction Updates
June 20, 2017 - Construction Update
Rocky Mountain Power crews relocate electricity poles along 40th Street.
Rocky Mountain Power continues to relocate electricity poles and power lines throughout the corridor. People driving through the work zone should expect one lane open in each direction and intermittent one-way flagging operations during pole relocation activities, which are expected to be ongoing through the summer.
Work to upgrade storm drains is now underway near the west end of the project, and it will be ongoing until early August. Crews working for Questar Gas also began to relocate underground lines at this location, and their activities will continue throughout the project as needed.
Crews with CenturyLink will begin to relocate communication lines in the next couple of weeks. Their work is expected to be completed by late July.
Utility companies will attempt to provide notices to impacted residents prior to scheduled service interruptions. Service interruptions, if any, should be short in duration and during daytime hours.
What to Expect
• One travel lane in each direction with reduced speed limits
• Construction activities six days a week, 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
• Increased noise and vibration during work hours
• Left turn restrictions throughout the work zone
• Construction vehicles entering and exiting the roadway
• Temporary closures of side streets and sidewalks within the work zone
• Traffic delays during peak travel times
Mailboxes located within the right-of-way will be relocated onto home owners' properties. No interruption in mail delivery is expected at this time.
Waste Disposal Service
Waste disposal pick up services remain unchanged unless otherwise noted. Residents may continue to place garbage cans near the edge of the roadway where they are visible and accessible to Republic Services drivers.
Businesses remain open during construction and accessible throughout the work zone. The project schedule is subject to change due to weather and equipment availability.
