Skyline Drive Extension Project Update
September 12, 2016
Intersection work to take place at
Eastwood Blvd. and Skyline Drive
Beginning Monday, September 12, crews will begin excavation work in the intersection of Eastwood Blvd. and Skyline Drive. Traffic will be reduced to one lane Monday through Wednesday, September 14. From Wednesday through Saturday, September 17, the intersection will be under a full closure while a drainage crossing is installed. Please follow posted detours.
In conjunction with this work, Skyline Drive will be excavated from Eastwood Blvd. to Megan/Ryan Circle. The asphalt in this area is failing. Crews will excavate 18-24 inches and bring in new material for a long lasting roadway. The concrete waterways at the intersection will also be removed. The intersection is scheduled to be paved on Saturday, September 17. The remaining portion of Skyline from Eastwood to the top of the new extension is scheduled to follow the next week.
Combe Road remains closed while concrete roadway cures. The closure will remain in effect until paving takes place. Please use local alternate routes such as Wasatch Drive, 5700 South/Eastwood Blvd., or Jared Way.
Construction Crews are completing storm drain installation, and settling (surcharging) the imported roadway materials.
Careful coordination has taken place with Weber School District Transportation. They are aware of this closure and will make temporary bus route changes to accommodate busing in the area. As the beginning of the school year approaches, we would like to remind parents and students that all areas in the construction zone, as indicated with traffic control devices, are off limits.
This project will extend Skyline Drive from Megan Circle on the south to the Ogden City limits on the north. The new road will be approximately three-quarters of a mile and will include construction of a roundabout at the intersection of Combe Road and Skyline Drive. Storm drain upgrades are taking place along Skyline Drive and Eastwood Blvd.
Project completion anticipated by Fall of 2016.
Please note that due to weather, project conflicts, utility issues, or equipment/supply issues, schedules are subject to change.
