Police Officer I-III

South Ogden City is accepting applications for a full time Police Officer. Applicants must be a US Citizen, and have a High School diploma or equivalent, a valid driver's license, and current Utah POST Certification. Candidates must pass a stringent background check, drug screen, and a psychological evaluation. A college degree and prior law enforcement are preferred but not required.

Candidate must possess ability to prepare clear and concise written reports, communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, analyze dangerous situations rapidly and accurately before taking safe effective action, enforce federal, state and municipal laws and work with the public in a courteous respectful manner.

Work conditions may present high stress and threat to personal safety during periods of search and seizure and arrest. Incumbents may be exposed to toxic materials, have to deal with unruly or dangerous individuals, unsafe building sites and may have to use deadly force. Incumbents may also be required to extend work schedule during emergency situations.

Starting salary will be between $19.00 and $26.00 per hour plus an excellent benefits package.  This position is open until filled.

Maintenance I

South Ogden City is seeking a skilled professional for the position of Maintenance Operator I.  This position Operates specialized heavy equipment such as single & tandem axle dump trucks, road graders, cats/bulldozers, front-end loaders, backhoe, bucket trucks, snow plow and other similar equipment in the construction, maintenance and repair of various Street, Water  or Sewer department projects and sites.  This position may work in the Water, Sewer or Street department as needed

This position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and at least six (6) months of general work experience in a field related to the duties listed above.  The incumbent must be able to work "on-Call" and be able to respond to City calls within 30 minutes of the call.  Incumbents must also be able to lift 50-75 pounds on a continual basis and obtain a commercial class "B" driver's license within 6 months from the date of hire.

The starting hourly wage for this position is $16.47 per hour plus an excellent benefits package.

Part Time Firefighter

South Ogden City is accepting applications for part-time Firefighter/EMT II or III.   Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, have a High School Diploma or equivalent, have at least an EMT-B, Hazmat Awareness and Operations, Firefighter I and II Cert, and a valid driver's license.   

Firefighters provide a variety of entry-level firefighting duties related to protection of life and property by performing firefighting, emergency medical aid, and fire prevention/education duties. This position also performs minor maintenance efforts with firefighting and medical equipment, apparatus, and facilities.    

 The starting annual salary is $13.00 per hour. After one year employees are eligible for a pay increase of up to $15.00 per hour based on certifications

Crossing Guard

This part time position observes road traffic to determine best timing for road crossings; admits children and pedestrians into designated crossing locations; escorts children and pedestrians as needed to assure safe crossings; acts defensively when anticipating on-coming vehicles. Reports to assigned location at pre-determined times; turns pedestrian traffic lights on and off; sets out safety cones; wears and uses required safety apparel and equipment; reports faulty and/or malfunctioning lights, apparel and equipment to supervisor; clears snow or debris from walkways to ensure safe, unobstructed passage.  Starting pay is $10.40 - $11.00 per hour based on qualifications and experience.
