Firefighter/EMT II or III



South Ogden City is accepting applications for part-time Firefighter/EMT II or III.   Applicants for a Firefighter II must be at least 18 years of age, have a High School Diploma or equivalent, have an EMT-B, Hazmat Awareness and Operations, Firefighter I and II Cert, and a valid driver's license.  Firefighter III candidates must have the same certifications plus an EMT-A certification.    

Firefighters provide a variety of entry-level firefighting duties related to protection of life and property by performing firefighting, emergency medical aid, and fire prevention/education duties. This position also performs minor maintenance efforts with firefighting and medical equipment, apparatus, and facilities.    

The starting hourly wage for a Firefighter II is $16.79

The starting hourly wage for a Firefighter III is $17.05.

Lead Accountant

South Ogden City is actively recruiting for a Lead Accountant. This position handles the Accounts Payable function for the City, Reconciles City accounts and balance sheet accounts including, but not limited to, bank and depository accounts, balance sheet accounts, building permits, and credit card accounts. Invoices, tracks, monitors non-utility receivables for the City. Prepares the city's bi-weekly payroll processing and files Federal and State reports that are required maintains financial records. Assists with the City's fixed asset program and oversees the small equipment tracking program. Provides assistance as required for the compilation of the city's annual budget, and assists with the financial audit as well as single audit when necessary. To qualify for this position, applicants must have graduated from an accredited college with a 4 year degree in accounting, finance or related field and have two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in a related field or an equivalent combination. The starting pay for this position is $22.17 - $27.82 based on experience and qualifications plus a generous benefits package that includes Health and Dental insurance and retirement. Parks Maintenance

South Ogden is recruiting for a Park Maintenance Worker. This position performs a variety of entry level skilled duties related to the construction, installation, maintenance, upkeep and repair of city buildings, recreation facilities, parks and grounds.

This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and one year of general work experience. Preference will be given to those with experience working on a park maintenance crew. A pesticide certification and/or certification through the National Arborists Association are a plus.

The starting hourly wage for this position is $18.09 - $19.94 per hour based upon experience and qualifications plus an excellent benefits package.

Maintenance Operator I

South Ogden City is seeking a skilled professional for the position of Maintenance Operator I. This position Operates specialized heavy equipment such as single & tandem axle dump trucks, road graders, cats/bulldozers, front-end loaders, backhoe, bucket trucks, snow plow and other similar equipment in the construction, maintenance and repair of various Street, Water or Sewer department projects and sites. This position may work in the Water, Sewer or Street department as needed

This position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and at least six (6) months of general work experience in a field related to the duties listed above. The incumbent must be able to work "on-Call" and be able to respond to City calls within 30 minutes of the call. Incumbents must also be able to lift 50-75 pounds on a continual basis and obtain a commercial class "B" driver's license within 6 months from the date of hire.

The starting hourly wage for this position is $19.23 plus an excellent benefits package.

Police Officer I-III

South Ogden City is accepting applications for a full time Police Officer. Applicants must be a US Citizen, and have a High School diploma or equivalent, a valid driver's license, and current Utah POST Certification. Candidates must pass a stringent background check, drug screen, and a psychological evaluation. A college degree and prior law enforcement are preferred but not required.

Candidate must possess ability to prepare clear and concise written reports, communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, analyze dangerous situations rapidly and accurately before taking safe effective action, enforce federal, state and municipal laws and work with the public in a courteous respectful manner.

Work conditions may present high stress and threat to personal safety during periods of search and seizure and arrest. Incumbents may be exposed to toxic materials, have to deal with unruly or dangerous individuals, unsafe building sites and may have to use deadly force. Incumbents may also be required to extend work schedule during emergency situations.

Experienced line officers in South Ogden can make up to $41.82 an hour, however the starting salary for this position will be between $26.84 and $36.01. per hour based on experience and qualifications plus an excellent benefits package. Crossing Guard

This part time position observes road traffic to determine best timing for road crossings; admits children and pedestrians into designated crossing locations; escorts children and pedestrians as needed to assure safe crossings; acts defensively when anticipating on-coming vehicles. Reports to assigned location at pre-determined times; turns pedestrian traffic lights on and off; sets out safety cones; wears and uses required safety apparel and equipment; reports faulty and/or malfunctioning lights, apparel and equipment to supervisor; clears snow or debris from walkways to ensure safe, unobstructed passage.  Starting pay is $12.54 per hour.
